Refund policy

1.      Returns, Refunds & Exchange Policy

1.1.   We want you to love what you wear. Because much of our collection is bought for once-in-a-lifetime moments, we keep returns clear, fair and fully compliant with UK consumer law.

1.2.   This policy is offered in addition to your legal rights and does not affect them in any way. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 always apply, whatever this policy says.

2.      Your legal rights

2.1.   Faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose: You are entitled to a refund, replacement, repair and/or compensation under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

2.2.   Bought online or by phone (distance selling): you also have the right to cancel for any reason within 14 days of receiving your order for selected categories of our product.

2.3.   These rights cannot be taken away or reduced. We will never ask you to accept a credit note or exchange where the law entitles you to a refund, and we do not charge restocking fees.

3.1.   The legal minimums (14-day cancellation, 14-day refund deadline, 30-day right to reject. The other figures are our service commitments.

4.      Changing your mind (distance selling)

4.1.   Your 14-day cancellation period runs from the day after you (or someone you nominate) receive the goods; for a multi-item order delivered separately from the day after the last item arrives.

4.2.   Tell us within those 14 days (email, your account, or the cancellation form in section 11.4). A clear statement is enough.

4.3.   After cancelling, you have a further 14 days to send the goods back. We refund within 14 days of receiving the goods back, or of proof of return, whichever is sooner, and usually within 3 working days of the item reaching us.

4.4.   You may examine and try items on as you would in a shop. If an item is handled beyond what is necessary (worn, washed, altered, tags removed, makeup/fake-tan marks, perfume or smoke odour), we may make a deduction to reflect the reduced value, and may decline the change-of-mind return if significantly damaged. This never affects your rights if the item is faulty.

5.      Our 30-day goodwill window

5.1.   On top of your statutory 14 days, we offer a 30-day goodwill window from delivery. To qualify, items must be unworn, unwashed and unaltered, with all original tags and any hygiene seal intact; in their original packaging (including dupattas, blouse pieces, bottoms and embellishment kits); and free from stains, marks, odours and pet hair. This window is in addition to your legal rights.

6.      Items exempt from the change-of-mind right (still covered if faulty)

6.1. Made-to-measure, stitched-to-measure or personalised items (e.g. custom bridal, blouses stitched to your measurements, altered hems/sleeves) - see section 9.

6.2. Hygiene-sealed items once the seal is broken (e.g. pierced jewellery, shapewear, petticoats and other intimate items).

6.3.  Gift cards and e-vouchers.

6.4.  If any of these arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, your full legal rights still apply.

7.      Faulty, damaged, wrong or not-as-described items

7.1.   Within 30 days of delivery, you have the short-term right to reject for a full refund, including original and return postage.

7.2.   Within the first 6 months any fault is presumed present at purchase unless we prove otherwise, and you are entitled to a free repair or replacement; if that fails, you can claim a refund.

7.3. Please report faults, damage or a wrong/missing item within 48 hours of delivery where possible, with photos. We pay return postage on all genuine faults.

7.4.   Please note: Handcrafted embroidery, beadwork, zari and natural fabrics may show minor irregularities, and screens can cause slight colour variation. These are characteristics of artisan ethnic wear, not faults.

8.      Refunds & exchanges

8.1.  We inspect every return within 2 working days and email you the outcome. Approved refunds go to your original payment method within 3 working days of receipt (and always within the legal maximum of 14 days). We never charge a fee to issue a refund.

8.2.   We refund the item price plus the standard outbound delivery cost; if you chose a premium/express upgrade, we refund up to the standard rate only.

8.3.   For change-of-mind returns, return postage is your responsibility, use our £3.95 prepaid tracked label (deducted from your refund) or your own tracked service. We tell you this before you order, as the law requires. For faulty, wrong or not-as-described items, we cover return postage.

8.4.   Exchanges: request an exchange when you start your return; once the original passes inspection we dispatch the replacement within 2 working days, subject to availability. We cover outbound postage on the first exchange of an order. Choosing an exchange never removes your right to a refund where the law provides one.

9.      Bridal & made-to-measure orders

9.1.   We take a deposit of 30% of the order value as an advance payment toward the price.

9.2.   If you cancel before we begin cutting or bespoke stitching, we refund your deposit minus only the costs we have already and unavoidably incurred (a genuine estimate of our direct loss), and we take reasonable steps to reduce that loss (e.g. by re-using fabric and components).

9.3.   Once cutting or bespoke stitching has begun, made-to-measure items are exempt from the 14-day cancellation right; if you cancel after this point, we may retain an amount reflecting the work completed and materials committed, a genuine estimate of our actual loss, not a fixed penalty.

9.4.   We confirm measurements, price and a production timeline in writing before work starts and include up to two complimentary fit adjustments within 14 days of delivery (excluding changes due to a change in your own measurements).

9.5.   Your rights if a bridal or made-to-measure item is faulty or not as described are fully protected. We recommend ordering at least 8–10 weeks before your event.

10.      Sale, clearance & international returns

10.1.   Sale & clearance items can be returned on the same 14-day cooling-off and 30-day goodwill terms as full-price items, provided they meet the condition requirements above. Items clearly marked “Final Sale” can only be returned if faulty, your faulty-goods rights are never removed.

10.2.  International returns: your 14-day cancellation right applies to all online orders. For change-of-mind returns from outside the UK you pay return shipping and should mark parcels “Returned Goods”; any duties/taxes you paid are reclaimable from the relevant customs authority, not from us. Faulty international returns are covered, contact us and we will arrange it.

11.      How to return & model cancellation form

11.1.  Email returns@yashwanti.com or use My Account -> Orders -> Return/Exchange within your return window, quoting your order number and whether you want a refund, exchange or replacement (with photos if faulty).

11.2.  We issue a Return Authorisation (RMA) number and instructions within 1 working day. Pack the item securely in its original packaging with the RMA slip, send it to the address we provide, and keep your proof of postage.

11.3.  Model cancellation form (you don’t have to use it, but you may): To - Yashwanti London, 52-56 The Broadway, Southall, England, UB1 1QB, or returns@yashwanti.com -

11.4.  “I/We hereby give notice that I/We cancel my/our contract of sale of the following goods:
